The City Council authorized the Phoenix Fire Department to retroactively apply for and accept a 9-1-1 grant not exceeding $1,013,637 from the State of Arizona Department of Administration Office of Grants and Federal Resources. The grant funds, distributed during Fiscal Year 2025-26, are intended to support 9-1-1 networking, telecom, and Internet Protocol infrastructure, hardware, software, and maintenance equipment, and to fund current staff of the Regional 9-1-1 Services Section. The City of Phoenix acts as the contracting agent for the 9-1-1 system's ongoing operations within the Maricopa Region. This initiative ensures compliance with State of Arizona Administrative Code requirements for local-level 9-1-1 planning. There is no cost to the City of Phoenix as all expenses are reimbursed by the State.
