The Phoenix City Council adopted General Plan Amendment GPA-DSTV-1-24-2 on June 4, 2025, for a 50.20-acre vacant site at the northeast corner of 64th Street and Mayo Boulevard. The amendment changes the land use designation from a mix of Commercial / Commerce/Business Park (32.24 acres) and Residential 5 to 10 dwelling units per acre (17.96 acres) to a unified Commercial / Residential 15+ dwelling units per acre. This change facilitates the development of mixed-use multifamily residential and commercial uses. The proposal is a companion case to rezoning Z-87-D-03-2, which will establish specific design and development standards, including enhanced shade, detached sidewalks, and buffering from adjacent residences. Both the Desert View Village Planning Committee and the Planning Commission recommended approval, with unanimous votes.
