The City of Phoenix City Council authorized amendments to Contract 152565 with Vix Technology (USA) Inc. for the regional transit fare collection system. This contract provides for the purchase of equipment, materials, and professional services to support and enhance the existing system, which became operational in summer 2024. The amendments, totaling an additional $7,500,000, will cover dedicated on-call technical support, replacement of vandalized equipment, additional fare media, ongoing improvements to the mobile app and website, and development for future system enhancements. These enhancements may include integration with other transit modes, new app capabilities, and evolving payment options. The contract term remains the same, from July 1, 2020, for 13 years with two optional three-year extensions. This item was recommended for approval by the Transportation, Infrastructure and Planning Subcommittee. Funds are sourced from Regional Public Transit Funds and Federal grants. The total contract amount with this additional funding will not exceed $68,728,625.
