The Phoenix City Council approved the extension of Contract 161600 with UMOM New Day Centers, Inc., to continue providing emergency shelter services for homeless families. The one-year extension, beginning July 1, 2025, and running through June 30, 2026, has a total value not to exceed $700,000, funded by the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). This contract, originally executed in July 2017, enables UMOM to serve 16 families with children and 130 single women experiencing homelessness nightly. The extension addresses the ongoing need for family shelter services, as the Office of Homeless Solutions frequently encounters families in urgent need. UMOM, the largest family shelter in Arizona, will continue to provide emergency shelter, essential services, and facility operations. The previous contract was approved by the City Council on June 26, 2024.
