Ordinance S-51911 authorizes the City to acquire all real property and related interests west of North 19th Avenue and West McDowell Road by donation, purchase at appraised value, or eminent domain for a railroad crossing safety improvement project. The improvements include installing new gate arms, replacing existing railroad signals, and adding cantilever signals at two crossings to prevent vehicles from stopping on the tracks. The City will dedicate land and roadway improvements to public right-of-way via separate recording instruments. Funding is provided by the Street Transportation Department’s Capital Improvement Program budget. Attachment A identifies the affected parcels. The project aims to enhance safety for railroad engineers, conductors, residents, and businesses by reducing collision risks at the crossings.
