The City of Phoenix Planning and Development Department has conditionally approved the abandonment of a series of public easements at 2600 W Sonoran Desert Drive, including approximately 63,066 sf of rectangular drainage easement north of Sonoran Desert Drive; 98,099 sf of irregular drainage easement south of North Foothills Drive; 1,022 sf trapezoidal drainage easement; a 36,829 sf temporary drainage easement; a 5,783 sf sidewalk easement; and a 14,888 sf slope easement. On March 13, 2025, the applicant opted to remove the slope easement from the abandonment request. Following review by multiple departments, the hearing officer imposed stipulations requiring retention of at least an 8-foot sidewalk easement adjacent to North Valley Parkway, submittal of a slope stability report, City approval of new legal descriptions, and new easement dedications on Plat 240072 for reconfigured drainage facilities. All conditions must be met and recorded within two years of approval to avoid expiration.
