On March 26, 2025, the Phoenix City Council approved Ordinance S-51740, authorizing a design-bid-build contract with MGC Contractors, Inc. for the rehabilitation of Lift Station 40. The project includes constructing a new wet well, submersible pumps, pig launching stations, an electrical building, standby generator, biofilter odor control, chemical storage, and associated electrical and control infrastructure. It also covers site expansion, installation of new water lines for fire hydrants, and demolition of the existing lift station. The project, located near Ray Road and I-10, is valued at up to $44,162,034.72 and will proceed over a 960-day contract term. Although the bid exceeded the estimated project cost, it was deemed reasonable and remains within the approved budget. The project will be funded through the city’s Water Services Capital Improvement Program budget.
This major infrastructure investment ensures continued wastewater management capacity and reliability in a growing district. It replaces aging systems and supports future development and environmental standards.
