The Louisville Metro Council adopted a resolution to amend Chapter 1, Section 1.1.9 of the Land Development Code (LDC) to extend the expiration date of approved development plans for affordable housing projects from two to five years. This amendment aims to provide more time for the completion of affordable housing developments within the city. To qualify, development plans must ensure at least 50 percent of available units are offered to residents with income at or below 80 percent AMI, and/or 20 percent of available units are offered to residents with income at or below 30 percent AMI. The units must remain affordable for at least 15 years, with annual reports submitted to the Office of Housing & Community Development and the Office of Planning. The Planning Commission recommended approval of this LDC Amendment on August 7, 2025, by a vote of 6-1, following public hearings.
