Louisville Metro Council Approves Annexation of 9.19-Acre Old Federal Road Area into City of Indian Hills

  • When: 2025/05/21
  • Address: Old Federal Road, Louisville, Kentucky
  • City: Louisville
  • State: KY
  • Category: Annexation
  • Asset Class: Detached Housing

The Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Council approved the annexation of 12 residential lots along Old Federal Road and an additional parcel (ID 0011-0103-0000), including the right-of-way, into the City of Indian Hills. The annexation was initiated by the City of Indian Hills Ordinance No. 2, Series 2025, which was passed and approved on May 21, 2025, by the Indian Hills City Council. All property owners (100%) in the affected area, comprising lots 1 through 12 and the additional parcel, provided written consent for the annexation to receive city services such as garbage collection, road maintenance, police protection, snow removal, and street lighting. The annexation area, totaling 9.1927 acres, is described as urban in character and completely residential. The Louisville Metro Council’s approval was contingent on meeting KRS 67C.111(3) requirements, including having at least seventy-five percent (75%) of registered and qualified voters in the area petitioning in favor of the annexation, which was confirmed by an affidavit from the City of Indian Hills Clerk. The Metro Council’s approval ensures that the annexation aligns with statutory requirements and allows the City of Indian Hills to extend municipal services effectively.
