Louisville Metro Council passed Ordinance O-065-25 on 2025/03/11 to allocate $28,500 from Neighborhood Development Funds — $2,000 from District 15; $1,500 each from Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 19, and 26; $1,250 from District 22; $750 from District 20; and $500 each from Districts 13, 21, 23, and 24 — to Kentucky Shakespeare, Inc. to cover production and staff costs for the 2025 free Shakespeare in the Parks tour across multiple Metro parks. The grant will reimburse expenses for five professional actors, sound and lighting equipment, signage, travel, crew, and digital advertising specific to each park location. Each sponsoring Council Member will receive tailored digital packets for neighborhood outreach and promotional materials. Funding is administered through the Office of Management and Budget and subject to Metro Council’s NDF policies, including reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements. This investment ensures a free, high-quality arts experience in diverse neighborhoods, supports logistical coordination, and reinforces the long-standing partnership between Kentucky Shakespeare and Metro Parks.
