The Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government Legislative Council denied a request to rezone approximately 34.56 acres located at 1600 Kurz Way and 1612 Dawn Drive. The proposal sought to change the existing R-4 Single Family Residential zoning to R-6 and PRD (Planned Residential Development) zoning. This development, known as Oak Point, was planned to include 16 detached single-family homes, 38 semi-detached townhomes, and 368 multifamily dwellings, totaling 422 units. The site is currently vacant and features steep slopes and unstable soils. Access to the proposed development was planned via Dawn Drive and Meyers Lane. A geotechnical report identified existing erosion issues and potential slope instability on the property, noting that the underlying Borden Formation is prone to landslides. The Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on January 21, 2025, and voted 6-3 to recommend denial of the zoning change. The Legislative Council concurred with this recommendation, maintaining the R-4 Single Family Residential zoning for the property.
