The City Council approved the grant of a 5.00-foot wide permanent non-exclusive easement to Southern California Gas Company (SCG) over a portion of City-owned property (Assessor's Parcel Number 5024-019-906). This action is taken to effectuate the settlement in the case entitled West 43rd Place, LLC v. City of Los Angeles, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 20STCV23614, which involved the cutting of a gas line serving the plaintiff's commercial property. The easement allows SCG to excavate for, lay, construct, reconstruct, relocate, reconfigure, use, inspect, maintain, operate, repair, replace, patrol, change the size of, add to, or remove pipelines and conduits for natural gas and communications. The Department of General Services is authorized and instructed to complete the necessary transactions and documentation. The conveyance of the easement is non-financial and will be at no cost to SCG.
