The City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (DOT) received authorization to reallocate funds within the Advanced Transportation System and Coordination (ATSAC) Trust Fund. This action addresses the need for repairs, replacement, upgrades, and maintenance of the city's traffic signal system infrastructure and equipment. The ATSAC system, vital for optimizing traffic flow and reducing congestion, has recently suffered damage from the January 2025 wildfires in the Palisades area, as well as recurring vandalism and copper wire theft across the city. The City Council approved reducing appropriations by $2,303,831.27 from completed projects within the ATSAC Trust Fund. Concurrently, $3,692,055.64 from the Available Cash Balance of the same fund was transferred and appropriated to a new account titled “ATSAC Systems Maintenance.” This ensures dedicated funding for the ongoing operational needs and restoration efforts of the ATSAC system across Los Angeles.
