The Los Angeles City Council approved the recommendation from the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) to remove the property at 552 West Cypress Avenue from the Rent Escrow Account Program (REAP). The property, identified under Case No. 759310 and APN 5446-008-030, consists of two dwelling units. It was placed into REAP due to 18 initial violations cited by the Code Enforcement Division, including issues with fire warning devices, weatherproofing, maintenance, plumbing/gas, and illegal construction. The LAHD determined that all cited code violations have been corrected, and the property owner has satisfied all outstanding electric service and water charges. As a result, the rent reductions associated with the program will be terminated, and the rent will be restored to its original level 30 days after tenant notification. The REAP escrow account will be closed, and funds will be disbursed according to the Los Angeles Municipal Code. An expedited systematic inspection will be conducted by LAHD, and the owner will prepay for two annual inspections.
