The Los Angeles City Council approved the recommendation from the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) to remove the property at 2121 S Portland Street from the Rent Escrow Account Program (REAP). The property, identified as Case No. 759924, was previously cited for 33 initial violations, including issues with fire warning devices, sanitation, weatherproofing, maintenance, electrical, plumbing/gas, heating/ventilation, and illegal construction. The LAHD's Code Enforcement Division determined that all cited code violations have been corrected. Consequently, the City Council has terminated the rent reductions for the units and the REAP escrow account, allowing the release of escrow funds. The Department will also file a certificate terminating the REAP recording with the Los Angeles County Recorder's Office and conduct an expedited systematic inspection of the property, with the owner prepaying for two annual inspections.
