The Arts, Parks, Libraries, and Community Enrichment Committee, along with the Budget and Finance Committee, recommended adjustments to the spay and neuter voucher value program. Both committees approved recommendations from Alternative 1 of the City Administrative Officer's report dated January 16, 2025. The Budget and Finance Committee's more comprehensive recommendation includes increasing the value of free vouchers for dogs, cats, and rabbits, encompassing the Citywide Cat Program, for the first year. It also applies to on-site contractors and contracted mobile spay and neuter clinics. The Department of Animal Services and the CAO are tasked with quarterly reporting on the program's funding status to ensure continuity. The adoption of Alternative 1 is projected to incur an additional General Fund impact of $2,251,373 in fiscal year 2025-26.
