The City of Houston City Council approved an ordinance authorizing a Subrecipient Agreement with The Beacon of Downtown Houston. This agreement provides $480,922.00 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for a Homeless Diversion Services Program. The Beacon will serve as a centralized Day Center and Access Point, offering case management and diversion solutions to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The program aims to support at least 50 households in achieving stable housing through a holistic, wraparound service model. The funding covers program costs ($432,829.80) and administrative costs ($48,092.20). This is the first contract between The Beacon and the City of Houston, with funding effective from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026.
