An ordinance was approved to name an unnamed 10-acre park located at the intersection of Kittredge Street and East Bolling Drive "Amache Prowers Memorial Park". The park, in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood, is currently under construction and will be maintained by Denver Parks and Recreation. The naming honors Amache Prowers, an indigenous activist and mediator during the 1860s and 1870s, whose father was a victim of the Sand Creek Massacre. The name was chosen after a community engagement process and recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) and the Manager of Parks and Recreation. This will be the first Denver urban park with an Indigenous or American Indian name. The park was designed by Norris Design and will help ensure residents have access to a quality park within a 10-minute walk or roll.
