The City and County of Denver approved a contract with SEMA Construction, Inc. for $22,678,281.59 for the Washington Street 47th to 52nd project in Council District 9. This bond-funded project aims to reimage Washington Street from 47th Avenue to 52nd Avenue, implementing operational and safety improvements. The scope of work includes significant sewer and storm drainage improvements, full-depth reconstruction of the roadway, expansion of the right-of-way to better align with pedestrian use, multi-use sidewalks, green infrastructure planting areas, pedestrian lighting along the corridor, and new signal infrastructure at 50th Avenue. The project also incorporates decorative elements as part of its design and will be done alongside the ongoing 51st Logan to Emerson project. The contract term is NTP (Notice to Proceed) plus 640 calendar days. The project is partially funded by federal funds through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Grant Agreement #RAIS-21-0009-CO. The project has a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation goal of 19%.
