The City and County of Denver has approved a second amendment to its contract with Volunteers of America Colorado Branch, adding $601,829 in funding and extending the contract through December 31, 2025. This brings the total contract amount to $2,409,145. Sinton’s Sanctuary is a low-barrier, 24/7 shelter that provides emergency housing and essential services for up to 25 women and women veterans experiencing homelessness. Residents have access to meals, laundry services, hygiene products, and case management support aimed at securing stable housing. The program assists clients with obtaining vital documents, benefits enrollment, housing navigation, and mental health or substance use treatment referrals. The expansion strengthens the city's homelessness resolution strategy by maintaining vital shelter capacity and increasing access to long-term housing solutions.
This funding extension ensures continued support for one of Denver’s few dedicated shelters for women and women veterans. By maintaining shelter operations and enhancing housing support services, the city aims to improve housing stability for vulnerable populations and reduce long-term homelessness.
