Staff report recommended approval of a rezoning from S-SU-D to S-SU-D1 for the property at 1920 South King Street to permit a Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in the rear yard. The rezoning would allow a secondary dwelling unit either one-story (max 17 ft) or two-story (max 24 ft) under the S-SU-D1 district standards on a 6,650 SF (0.14 AC) suburban single-unit lot. The site contains a one-story 1940s house with a detached garage on a curvilinear block in the Harvey Park neighborhood. The S-SU-D1 district retains a minimum lot size of 6,000 SF, 50% maximum building coverage, and accessory use regulations, including ADU setbacks of 10 ft (one-story) or 20 ft (two-story) with a bulk plane. No off-street parking is required, though ADU parking must use the alley if present. A single public comment expressed concerns about street parking. The planning board held a public hearing on July 3, 2024, and forwarded a recommendation of approval to City Council.
