The planning board recommended approval of rezoning at 2449 N Newport Street from E-SU-DX to E-SU-D1X to allow the addition of a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU). The one-story, single-unit dwelling on a 6,710 square foot lot in North Park Hill sought the new zoning district that permits ADUs in the rear 35% of the lot with a maximum height of 24 feet. The proposed E-SU-D1X district maintains existing front and side yard setbacks while allowing an ADU footprint up to 864 square feet on lots under 7,000 square feet. No off-street parking is required. The planning department received no objections from city agencies or registered neighborhood organizations.
