The City and County of Denver approved an $875,000 funding allocation from the Parks Legacy Special Revenue Fund to acquire 1060 South Emporia Street, a 1.94-acre property in the Windsor neighborhood. The property, purchased from 8552 Garden Circle, LLC and High Line Swim Club, LLC for $750,000, will be developed into a new neighborhood park, addressing the area's lack of recreational space. The acquisition is supported by an additional $75,000 contribution from the Denver Park Trust. The funding also includes $200,000 for vision planning, tree restoration, due diligence, and transactional costs, bringing the total cost to $950,000. This initiative aligns with Denver Parks & Recreation’s Strategic Acquisition Plan and the Parks Legacy Fund Five Year Plan to close the 10-Minute Walk or Roll gap for approximately 1,700 households.
This acquisition ensures equitable access to park space in the Windsor neighborhood, one of Denver’s Areas of Greatest Need. The development of a new park will enhance community well-being, recreational opportunities, and environmental sustainability.
