The City Council of Columbus authorized the Director of Development to execute grant agreements with seven not-for-profit social service agencies for the Resilient Housing Initiative (RHI), totaling $479,000.00. The RHI aims to increase housing stability by providing homelessness prevention services, including housing crisis coaching, financial assistance, and housing-focused case management. This initiative will continue services through the first quarter of 2026, using local City of Columbus funding, following the conclusion of federal Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA2) funding. The ordinance also authorizes payment for reasonable food and non-alcoholic beverages for program participants, allows for expenses incurred prior to purchase order execution starting October 1, 2025, and permits the advancement of funds to agencies on a predetermined schedule. Funding includes up to $102,525.00 from the Neighborhood Economic Development Fund and up to $376,475.00 from the Income Tax Set Aside Fund. The decision was declared an emergency measure to immediately provide financial assistance to prevent eviction and stabilize residents in a housing crisis.
